Why recovery with hypnosis?
Memories of the past associated with smell, taste and sight trigger addictive desires. The smell of alcohol, smelling a drug when passing by the spot where deals took place, seeing a glass of Scotch and hearing the sound of ice clinking in a glass – these all trigger thoughts and strong emotions in the body. These are very difficult for anyone to resist by willpower alone and thus may cause an addict to relapse several times.
Instead of fighting one’s will, it would be better to change the cerebral reactions of neural pathways with the neuroplasticity. This is where recovery using hypnosis comes into play.
One of the best ways to get neuroplasticity is to access the subconscious level through hypnosis, (see the blog post on this topic). Of course, this is not magic, it is teamwork between the hypnotherapist and the patient.
Hypnosis is being used with great success in addiction relapse prevention. There are quite a few studies that confirm its effectiveness in this setting.
One study showed that hypnosis therapy is successful in controlling cravings and regulating impulsive behavior, which therefore helps prevent relapse 1.
Hypnosis is not only effective for one drug only, but also for people who are struggling with multiple drug addictions. Indeed, hypnosis can be used for multiple drug addictions simultaneously. One study looked at using hypnotherapy to treat people who have addictions to an opioid, heroin, and other drugs like cocaine. Of the study participants who received hypnotherapy, all patients (100%) completely stopped use of any street drugs and results remained stable for six months after the end of treatment. The study reported that 78% of the patients refrained from heroin use, two years post-treatment 2.

Stop the cravings, stop the obsessive addictive thoughts, stop fighting your willpower, create new beliefs and create a positive future that your subconscious mind will believe, find another way.
